Jed Child Trust Foundation hosts an annual essay competition to engage the minds of African youth from secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions of learning, to aim youth to reflect about quality and effectiveness of education in Africa continent and provide realistic and viable solutions to them. Winners that emerge are awarded cash prizes and get the opportunity to be ambassadors of Jed Child Trust at their various institutions of learning for one year.
Objectives:
- Schedule competition’s commencement, submission, winner announce and prize giving date
- Establish essay topic
- Set prizes for winners
- Outline participation guideline and policy
- Establish submission channel for participants
- Create publicity materials for awareness of the competition
- Collect and sort essays submitted through the appropriate channel
- Identify panels to sort, grade and analyze essay for the best of them
- Identification of top three in each categories
- Analyze reports by the panel
- Organize an announcement meeting
- Announce winners
- Fix prize giving day for our annual conference
Requirements:
To participate in the essay competition:
- Participants must be a secondary school student or be in a tertiary institution.
- Participants must provide a means of student identification.
- Participants must submit their entries within the stipulated time.
Measuring progress and impact:
- Impact is measured by the strategic thinking of participants as regards solutions provided in their essay.
- In the long run, impact is measured by how the winners have been able to contribute their quota to providing solutions to problems of education around them.
